Write Out The Scripture Passage |
First, write out the verse or passage of Scripture that the Holy Spirit has shown you for the day, as well as the reference
|
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Make Observations |
Second, look at the surrounding context of the verse you selected and write down anything important that you observe. Try to explain the passage in your own words.
|
Jesus is speaking to his apostles in this verse and telling them that it is the Holy Spirit who will empower them, He will help them become better witnesses. There are three distinct places he is asking his follower to go.

Apply to Your Life |
Third, ask how this verse might apply to your life. What is God calling you to do or to remember as a result? What is your next step, and how can you be obedient?
|
I need to be a better witness. I do a pretty good job sharing my faith with my immediate family and neighbors, but it's harder for me to be a witness for Jesus at work and with my extended family. I need to pray for the Holy Spirit to make me a better witness.

Write out a Prayer |
Fourth, write out a closing prayer. This could be as short as short as a phrase or sentence, but use this final section to speak a request or commitment back to God.
|
Dear Jesus, empower me with boldness today! I want to be a better witness for you. Give me an opportunity to share my faith today with those around me. Amen
